Lead Software Engineer
Day Rate - £55 per hour
IR35 Status – Outside IR35
Working Pattern - Remote (occasional days for key onsite meetings)
Location – UK Based
Are you a Lead Software Engineer with experience in the defence sector with embedded systems looking for your next contract opportunity?
Here at Maxwell bond, we’re excited to announce we’re partnering with a leading defence company looking to expand their UK presence. We are currently on the look for a Lead Software Engineer to support on the design and implementation of software for underwater robotics applications.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be reporting to the Software Manager and leading teams to deliver exciting technical projects for subsea vehicles and associated robotic functions.

Essential Skills
- Relevant Engineering Degree with 7+ years’ experience in senior/lead software engineering
- Extensive experience working with embedded and software systems
- Experience developing software architecture for complex systems
- Strong understanding of software development processes, quality and safety
- Experience leading software teams and providing technical leadership
Desired Skills
- Extensive Experience with C++, Python or JavaScript
- Experience working across Linux and Windows environments
- Knowledge of networking and communication protocols
- Experience with databases, web technologies or distributed systems
- Exposure to GUI development, real-time systems or messaging technologies
