Lead Software Engineer (Frontend / Backend / Full Stack)

Manchester | Hybrid

Salary: £70,000 + Excellent Benefits


We're working with a leading global technology consultancy that's looking to hire experienced Lead Software Engineers to join its growing team in Manchester.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of cutting-edge cloud-native applications for some of the world's leading organisations. You'll remain hands-on with modern technologies while mentoring engineers, driving technical excellence and delivering large-scale digital transformation projects across a variety of industries.

The Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and delivering modern software solutions, working alongside talented multidisciplinary teams to build secure, scalable and high-performing applications.

You'll combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills, helping to shape engineering best practices, support the growth of your team and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of cloud-native and serverless applications
  • Build secure, scalable and high-performing software solutions
  • Guide engineering teams throughout the full software development lifecycle
  • Drive automation, CI/CD and engineering best practices
  • Work closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver innovative software solutions
  • Promote high standards across software quality, security and performance

Skills & Experience

We're looking for experience with several of the following:

  • Strong commercial experience with Java, C#, Python, Go or TypeScript
  • Frontend development using React, Angular, Vue or Svelte
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • Infrastructure as Code
  • CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins etc.
  • Experience building secure, accessible and high-performing applications
  • Previous experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring developers

Desirable Experience

  • NoSQL technologies such as Elasticsearch
  • Debugging and resolving complex technical issues
  • Leading the delivery of technical projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
