About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Software Engineer to join J.P. Morgan's Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division, specifically within the Equities Technology - Prime Services team. This role offers a unique chance to influence and shape the future of trading technology solutions in a fast-paced, innovative environment. As a core member of an agile team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying high-quality technological solutions that support the firm's trading and execution workflows. Your expertise will directly impact the efficiency, security, and scalability of our market-leading products, enabling the firm to maintain its competitive edge in the global financial markets. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of formal education, practical experience, and specialized knowledge. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field is required, complemented by at least five years of hands-on experience in software engineering. Candidates should have formal training or certifications in software development principles and methodologies. In-depth understanding of capital markets, particularly equity market microstructure, is essential. Strong proficiency in Python is mandatory, along with excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. The ability to translate complex business and quantitative requirements into scalable technical architectures and implementation plans is crucial. Candidates should also demonstrate familiarity with electronic trading workflows, pre-trade analytics, execution algorithms, and post-trade analysis, along with experience working with a variety of trading and market data systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain high-quality Python code for front-office trading technology systems, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with traders and quantitative researchers to understand their needs and deliver innovative solutions that optimize trading workflows.
- Engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure alignment of project goals and technical implementations.
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions, thinking beyond routine approaches to solve complex technical challenges.
- Create secure, scalable, and reliable production code, conducting code reviews and debugging to maintain high standards.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks and eliminate inefficiencies, enhancing operational stability and system performance.
- Lead communities of practice within the software engineering domain, promoting the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices.
- Contribute to fostering a team culture rooted in diversity, inclusion, opportunity, and mutual respect, supporting a collaborative work environment.
