Job Title
We are excited to be working with an established global organisation investing in its technology, people and next phase of growth. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on meaningful technical ownership, influence architecture and help shape applications used by teams internationally.
In this role
You’ll combine hands-on full-stack development with technical leadership, building scalable applications while guiding architectural decisions and engineering standards. Working closely with product teams and senior stakeholders, you’ll turn complex business challenges into practical solutions and help develop the engineers around you.
Job responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, React and supporting technologies.
- Shape architecture across new development and existing systems, improving scalability, performance and maintainability.
- Take ownership of complex engineering challenges, from initial design through delivery and ongoing reliability.
- Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business needs into clear technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers, lead code and design reviews, and strengthen engineering practices across teams.
- Improve delivery through automated testing, CI/CD and modern cloud development practices.
- Explore emerging technologies, including AI and intelligent automation, through practical experiments and proofs of concept.
- Guide technical initiatives across teams, balancing longer-term improvements with delivery priorities.

What we are looking for
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with substantial hands-on delivery of enterprise applications.
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including modern Java versions, alongside React and full-stack development experience.
- Familiarity with C#/.NET and Python would be beneficial.
- Proven experience designing scalable systems and making architectural decisions.
- A track record of technical leadership, mentoring engineers and influencing delivery across teams.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns, APIs, microservices and engineering best practices.
- Experience with cloud environments, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, GitHub and CI/CD would be advantageous.
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies and the judgement to identify where they can add value.

- Location: London (Hybrid)
- Salary: £120,000 - £130,000
