Lead Software Engineer – Full-Stack (Python)

London | Hybrid

Our client is a global financial services organisation investing in modern technology and new ways of working. This is a hands-on full-stack leadership role focused on Python for the backend, React for the frontend, architecture and technical direction, with increasing opportunities to introduce AI capabilities into enterprise applications.

In This Role You Will:

  • Provide technical leadership across full-stack engineering initiatives
  • Design and develop scalable, enterprise-grade applications
  • Work hands-on across backend and frontend development
  • Contribute to architecture, system design and technical decision-making
  • Work closely with engineering, product and analytics teams
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical direction
  • Identify opportunities to introduce AI and modern engineering approaches

Essential Requirements:

  • 10+ years' professional software engineering experience
  • Strong backend engineering experience with Python
  • Strong commercial React experience
  • Genuine full-stack development experience
  • Strong understanding of architecture and system design
  • Experience building enterprise-grade applications in production
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, databases and modern software engineering practices
  • Familiarity with AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG or AI-powered applications

Even Better If You Have:

  • Experience with Java/Spring Boot, particularly within enterprise applications
  • Experience with AWS or Azure, Docker, Kubernetes and CI/CD
  • Previous experience as a Technical Lead, Principal Engineer or Architect
  • Financial services or large enterprise experience
  • Experience introducing AI capabilities or identifying practical AI use cases

You don't need to be an AI developer for this role, but you should be comfortable working with AI technologies and exploring how they can be applied within enterprise applications. If you have the right full-stack engineering skills and experience, we'd love to hear from you.
