THE NEXT CHAPTER STARTS WITH YOU
Lead Software Engineer, Salesforce & MuleSoft
Lead the engineering of secure, scalable platforms and integrations that support the next chapter of Vanquis.
We have invested significantly in modernising our technology landscape and strengthening our engineering capabilities. The opportunity now is to continue building reliable, secure and maintainable solutions that support our customers, colleagues and business.
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will join our Solution Engineering function and combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will design, build and maintain enterprise-scale platform and integration solutions while helping teams adopt reusable patterns, strong quality practices and effective technical governance.
Working across Salesforce, MuleSoft, APIs and enterprise integrations, you will help turn complex requirements into secure, resilient and supportable solutions. You will also provide technical guidance, review engineering work and support the continued development of colleagues across our engineering community.
How you’ll make an impact:
You’ll…
- Lead the design, development and support of Salesforce, MuleSoft and integration solutions
- Turn complex business requirements into reusable solutions, APIs and integrations
- Champion engineering best practice across security, testing, resilience and performance
- Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentoring and engineering governance
- Resolve complex technical challenges and support successful releases into production
So that…
- Our platforms remain secure, scalable, reliable and aligned to customer and business needs
- Teams can deliver faster while maintaining consistency and quality
- Quality and risk management are built into every stage of delivery
- Engineering standards continue to evolve and colleagues can do their best work
- Services remain reliable, supportable and ready for future growth
Why this role matters:
Technology & Change is a strategic priority for Vanquis. We have modernised core platforms and invested significantly in our technology capabilities. This role will help ensure our Salesforce and MuleSoft solutions can support reliable customer and colleague experiences while continuing to evolve with the needs of the business.
You will work closely with architecture, product, business analysis, testing, operations, service management and delivery colleagues. Your technical decisions will influence engineering quality, platform resilience, delivery confidence and our ability to create reusable solutions across multiple teams.
In a regulated financial services environment, security, data protection, supportability and controlled change matter. Your leadership will help teams balance these expectations with the need to deliver valuable technology outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
