Lead Software Engineer (.NET)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Software Engineer (.NET) based in United Kingdom.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a major modernization initiative within a globally distributed engineering environment. You will take ownership of the transition from a legacy monolithic architecture toward scalable microservices, guiding the process from analysis through production release. As a technical leader, you will influence architecture, resolve complex backend and data challenges, and help ensure reliable delivery. You will collaborate closely with Product and Architecture teams to translate business requirements into realistic technical plans. Beyond hands-on engineering, you will strengthen team processes, delivery discipline, quality practices, and engineering performance. You will also play an important people leadership role through coaching, feedback, and career development.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of the monolith-to-microservices modernization initiative, from legacy system analysis and planning through production deployment, while maintaining visibility into delivery status, dependencies, and risks.
  • Partner with Product and Architecture teams to review business and technical specifications, identify legacy dependencies, assess feasibility, and develop realistic engineering estimates.
  • Guide architectural decisions across.NET Core services, SQL and NoSQL databases, and frontend integrations, ensuring solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with product objectives.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex backend implementation challenges, data migrations, performance issues, and production incidents.
  • Improve engineering delivery practices through stronger Jira task management, more accurate estimation, clear process discipline, and effective collaboration with QA teams.
  • Support predictable, high-quality releases by identifying delivery risks early, coordinating resolution of technical issues, and maintaining strong production stability.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings connected to individual career goals, provide meaningful feedback, and support performance development and team engagement.
  • Drive continuous improvements to engineering processes, collaboration practices, and team effectiveness.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
