Lead Software Engineer - Node.js and TypeScript, NestJS
London (Hybrid) | Permanent | £120,000 - £150,000 + Equity
We're partnering with an ambitious AI-led technology business that's using agentic AI to automate complex operational processes at scale.
As the company continues to grow, they're looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to work closely with senior engineering leadership, driving architecture, leading delivery, and helping shape the next generation of AI-powered products.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical challenges, taking ownership, and remaining deeply involved in engineering rather than moving into pure people management.
This probably isn't for you if...
- You're looking for a large corporate environment with established processes and multiple layers of approval
- You prefer people management over hands-on engineering
- You enjoy specialising in a narrow area rather than owning problems end-to-end
- You see AI tooling as optional rather than a core part of modern software development
- You need extensive onboarding before becoming productive
- You're uncomfortable making decisions, taking ownership and being accountable for outcomes

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
