Lead Software Engineer / Developer (Python FastAPI Azure Databricks) London / WFH

Are you a backend focused Software Engineer with strong Python skills combined with technical / team leadership experience?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on role at a fast growing, global Insurance Underwriting technology provider that focusses on developing a complex SaaS calculation platform for rapidly growing Cyber Security insurance markets.

About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer you'll remain hands-on whilst providing technical leadership, designing and implementing complex solutions and ensuring the team adheres to best practices. You'll define technical requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives, contribute to architectural decisions and technical designs and collaborate with Product Owners and stakeholders to prioritise tasks and allocate resources.

You'll provide technical leadership and guidance, facilitate communication and ensure coding standards and best practices, including performing code reviews and providing constructive feedback, championing quality focused software development, enforcing quality assurance standards, processes, testing methodologies, and driving initiatives to improve the development team efficiency e.g. CI/CD.

Location / WFH

There's a hybrid work from home model with three days a week in the high spec London, City office with rooftop bar.

About You

  • You have experience of leading and mentoring small to medium sized technical teams
  • You have strong Python backend software engineering skills
  • You have experience of building FastAPIs
  • You have a good knowledge of Azure
  • You have experience of working with data at scale
  • You have strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL, SQL Server - Azure Databricks experience highly preferred)
  • You have a thorough knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals including Data Structures, Design Patterns, OOP
  • You're collaborative and pragmatic with great communication skills
