We’re supporting a growing organisation looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join its engineering community and take technical ownership of large-scale, operationally critical client projects.

This is a senior, client-facing technical leadership role. You’ll take ownership of the technical delivery of a project or subsystem end-to-end, from initial concept through to live operation, while mentoring engineers and contributing to the continued growth of the wider engineering capability.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the technical delivery of a project or subsystem end-to-end, including design, development, documentation and release, ensuring solutions meet high engineering standards and are fit for operational use.
  • Defining and owning technical quality processes across your engagement, including build pipelines, code quality, testing and source control.
  • Leading client engagements from project inception through to delivery, acting as the primary technical point of contact.
  • Leading technical discussions and aligning stakeholders and teams around effective solutions.
  • Owning requirements analysis and solution design, translating business needs into robust technical architecture.
  • Reviewing tools and processes to identify and drive continuous improvements within your engagement, while advising clients on wider opportunities for improvement.
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of Mid-Level and Senior Engineers, including task-level support and technical quality coaching.
  • Contributing to presales activity and pitches for new work, while building trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders.
  • Building deep expertise in one or more technology ecosystems and sharing that knowledge with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Taking ownership of impact assessments for proposed changes and managing delivery risk.
  • Ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, observable and cost-optimised.
  • Championing the effective and responsible use of AI-assisted engineering tools, keeping up to date with emerging technologies and sharing knowledge across the engineering community.
  • Identifying opportunities where AI-powered capabilities, such as LLM integrations or intelligent automation, could add value to client engagements and working with specialist AI teams where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
