Technical Lead/Lead Software Engineer for Surfscan Product Division
KLA is seeking a Technical Lead/Lead Software Engineer for their Surfscan product division to work on SPx products based on a common software platform. The role involves leading software development teams, architecting systems, ensuring code quality and scalability, and serving as a technology evangelist for the Surfscan product line in the semiconductor inspection industry. The position requires strong C++ programming skills, system architecture experience, and knowledge of software development lifecycle processes.

The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

Role
Lead Software Engineer position to work on the SFS division's SPx products based on the Common software platform.
Responsibilities
- Acquire and demonstrate technical knowledge of Surfscan software
- Serve as the technology evangelist for the Surfscan product division
- Work on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of various factors
- Ensure that detailed designs, code, and unit tests are consistent, robust, future-proof and scalable
- Understand and make design and architectural improvements on existing software
- Participate in requirements definition and review; provide technical assessment of the impact of any changes to product requirements
- Provide technical expertise to the estimation process as input to the project plan
- Acquire knowledge of key use cases in bare wafer inspection for IC and wafer customers
- Follow KT defined software development processes
- Lead small teams to develop key features on a need basis
- In conjunction with the Technical Manager, identify, highlight, review and mitigate technical risks
- Contribute to the continued improvement of the organization's development procedures by identifying opportunities for improvement and proposing solutions

Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals in C++, VC++, MFC and COM
- Experience architecting systems from scratch and leading project teams
- Diverse experience in analysis, design, development and unit testing
- Thorough knowledge of SDLC and software engineering
- Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and project management in both business and technical areas, keeping discussions at the appropriate level of abstraction
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, interpersonal and motivational skills, with the ability to move cleanly from theoretical to implementation thinking
- Willingness to travel to the US and other customer locations on short assignments
Preferred Experience
- Experience developing COM/DCOM using MFC/ATL
- Experience with .Net and C#
- Knowledge of STL, Boost Library, WinDBG and Windows Internals
- Knowledge of CMM or other process models
- Knowledge of KLA-specific or general semiconductor domain
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent field with 6+ years of experience with large software systems and/or semiconductor products
- Or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent field with 4+ years of experience with large software systems and/or semiconductor products
