Lead Software Engineer – Full-Stack / AI
London | Hybrid
Are you an experienced software engineer ready to take ownership of technical direction while continuing to stay hands-on? Our client is a global organisation within the financial services sector, investing heavily in modernising its technology platforms and developing new ways of working across its technology teams. This is a hands-on, full-stack leadership role for an experienced engineer with strong Python and React skills, who can contribute across architecture, development and technical direction. You’ll work closely with engineering, product and analytics teams, helping shape technical solutions, improve existing applications and explore where AI and modern engineering practices can create real value.

What we’re looking for:
- 12+ years’ software engineering experience
- Strong Python and hands-on commercial React experience
- Full-stack engineering background with strong architecture and system-design knowledge
- Experience building and supporting enterprise-grade applications in production
- Experience with RESTful APIs, databases and modern software development practices
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions
- Familiarity with AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG and AI-powered applications
- Experience within large-scale enterprise environments; financial services experience would be particularly relevant
- Previous experience as a Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, Architect or similar would be advantageous
