Job Description
Please Note - The applicant must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport, and hold, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level to be considered for this role.
Reporting to the Senior Sourcing Manager, you will serve as the Lead Strategic Sourcing Specialist within our Naval business unit. You will hold full accountability for the end-to-end sourcing process for assigned direct and indirect commodities—including tooling and facilities. You will drive competitive advantage through proactive supplier management, strategic selection, and performance optimization, ensuring all activities align with both local requirements and global commodity strategy.
You need to be able to drive as this role requires to work between sites based in Rugby and Leicester.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management: Formulate and execute robust commodity strategies based on historical data, project demand, and market intelligence. Lead sourcing board reviews to align with business objectives.
- Supplier Performance & Development: Lead supplier selection, onboarding, and development in collaboration with Quality teams. Manage supplier performance against defined quality, cost, delivery, and risk metrics, conducting regular reviews to foster strategic relationships.
- Commercial & Financial Excellence: Drive cost-out, deflation, and cash-flow targets while negotiating the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). Perform detailed cost breakdown analysis and lead contract negotiations in partnership with Legal.
- Risk Mitigation & Quality Assurance: Manage risk mitigation plans and drive low Cost of Poor Quality (CoPQ) metrics. Collaborate with Quality and Warranty teams to ensure supplier support for product resolution and continuous process improvement.
- Bid Support & Integration: Support bidding teams with RFQs to ensure competitive TCO and lead times, leveraging 'Make vs. Buy' analysis to win new business.

Essential Candidate Requirements
- Experience within a technical or engineering manufacturing environment.
- CIPS accredited or equivalent professional qualification.
- Proven ability to formulate sourcing strategies, lead contract negotiations, and conduct 'Make vs. Buy' assessments.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to influence at all stakeholder levels, including senior leadership.
- Proficiency in SAP, MS Office Suite, and Power BI.
- Security & Citizenship: You must be a sole British national, hold a valid UK passport, and have the ability to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance (SC) to the required level.
Location
Ideally, you will work on a hybrid basis, 2 days a week in Rugby, 2 days a week in Leicester, and one day a week at home.

Desirable Characteristics
- Experience within the technical, electrical engineering, or defence sectors.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity requirements in a supply chain context.
- A hands-on, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage competing priorities in a high-demand environment.
