Lead Technical Consultant
💰 £65,000 to £75,000
📍 Bristol - Hybrid, three days a week onsite with the rest from home
Company & Role
An established Microsoft Solutions Partner and managed service provider working with SMEs across the South West. They hold Solutions Partner designations spanning Modern Work, Infrastructure, Security and Data & AI, alongside security accreditations most providers in their space do not carry, and have built their reputation on technical depth rather than volume support.
Project demand has outgrown what the current team can absorb. Rather than patching that with another pair of hands, they are building the professional services side out properly, and this role is the first serious step in that.
To be clear about where the weight sits, this is a technical hire first. They want the strongest consultant they can find, someone who becomes the technical authority on project delivery. The leadership element is real but it builds rather than arriving on day one. The route from here is into professional services leadership, and that is the honest pitch: own how projects get delivered now, grow into owning the function.
Why This Role Stands Out
- A defined progression route into professional services leadership. You are not being hired into a ceiling, you are being hired into the first version of a role that gets bigger.
- You stay deep in the technology. Nobody is promoting you away from the work you are actually good at.
- Genuine technical ownership. You decide how projects get designed and built rather than implementing someone else's drawings.
- Project work rather than firefighting. The service desk owns support, so your time goes on delivery.
- Flat and fast. Direct access to senior leadership, decisions made in days rather than quarters, and a real say in how the function develops.
- Varied SME client base with security running through most engagements, so the work does not get repetitive.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Ideal Experience
- Currently working in an MSP or Microsoft partner environment, delivering projects rather than supporting them
- Strong hands on Azure experience across infrastructure, migrations and identity
- Solid Microsoft 365 delivery experience including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams and Intune
- The depth to be the final technical word on a design, and the confidence to defend it in front of a customer
- Comfortable owning delivery commercially as well as technically, including scoping and estimating
- Microsoft Security exposure is highly desirable, particularly Defender, Entra and Purview
- An appetite for growing into professional services leadership. Formal management experience is welcome but not a requirement
- Certifications such as AZ 104, AZ 305, MS 102 or SC 300 are welcome, though delivery track record matters more
