Lead Technical Engineer I

£85,000 - £95,000 + Benefits

My client is looking for an experienced tech lead to take ownership of a core platform build. While working with a small, talented team you will mentor and support the fellow engineers to maximise quality, ensure efficiency and take a hands-on role building a new platform. This role has a focus on the use of AI with the expectation of fluency in AI coding tools, as well as the confidence to help support and develop the team in working this way.

What you will be doing

  • Design and develop features across the entire platform.
  • Build and optimise high-performance CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid feedback and efficient delivery.
  • Develop and integrate AI-powered features that deliver meaningful business value.
  • Design, implement, and consume REST and GraphQL APIs to integrate the platform with CBS, payment providers, and third-party design services.
  • Own features end to end, from initial design and implementation through testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
  • Influence architectural decisions and technical direction within a small, senior engineering team.
  • Develop automated tests, conduct code reviews, and contribute to establishing and maintaining engineering standards.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
