Severn Trent, as a proud member of Water Resources West (WRW), is part of an ambitious collaboration uniting water abstractors, regulators, and stakeholders to ensure a sustainable future for water resources across England and Wales. Together, WRW coordinates and develops a regionally focused water resources plan to balance the growing demand for water with environmental protection and climate resilience. We are now seeking a dynamic Technical Manager to spearhead the delivery of the technical workstreams contributing to Water Resources West’s next regional plan. In this pivotal role, you will:
- Lead with Vision: Manage the consistency and compatibility of the technical methods used across the different WRW workstreams and member organisations.
- Communicate clearly: Write of all technical elements of the regional plan documents and related publications in a way that is accessible to our stakeholders.
- Champion Sustainability: Play a key role in our mission to provide sustainable water resources for the future.

Some Of Your Key Accountabilities Will Include
- Work alongside the WRW Programme Manager to ensure that the different technical workstreams are aligned with the overall delivery plan and that technical deliverables, deadlines and expectations are understood.
- Coordinate and maintain the different technical workstreams that make up WRW’s regional plan, orchestrating technical inputs from the different WRW members to ensure our regulatory deadlines are met, and the outputs are of the highest standards.
- Lead the writing of all technical elements of the regional plan documents and related publications, plus support workstream leads in the production of technical appendices to the regional plan, taking an editorial role for those documents.
- Lead the production of regional plan tables and data products, developing and maintaining any data systems or other tools that may be required to collate data from the separate workstreams.
- Ensure that the WRW plan meets the complex regulatory requirements supported by meticulous documentation and evidence, showcasing our commitment to excellence.
- Produce technical documentation and data products that support the regional plan. Work with the different technical teams from the WRW members to ensure that technical methods are accurately documented and reported.
- Build strong working relationships across the different WRW technical teams, regulators and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with their broader strategies and delivery plans.

WHAT WE'ER LOOKING FOR
- Proven expertise in asset or environmental investment planning, ideally with a knowledge of the water resources management planning process and/or economic regulation.
- Be highly numerate with a high level of competence in problem solving, analytical reasoning, planning and strategic thinking. The ability to take a pragmatic approach to planning and problem resolution is essential.
- Good financial and economics awareness, particularly whole-life cost principles and cost-benefit assessment techniques and how these are applied in investment planning.
- Drive and commitment to manage a high workload to meet challenging WRW, company and regulatory deadlines.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in regulatory documentation and assurance processes.
- Knowledge of water industry regulatory standards and data management systems.
