Lead Tester

Role overview:

Own the ESCS test strategy and lead coordinated assurance across functional, integration, non-functional and user acceptance testing. The Lead Tester ensures that quality, traceability, environments, data and evidence are planned from the outset and integrated with delivery.

The role you will play:

  • Set the risk-based test approach and quality controls across ESCS.
  • Coordinate test teams, suppliers, environments, data and entry/exit criteria.
  • Provide clear evidence of solution quality and readiness for acceptance.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the test strategy, master test plan and assurance reporting.
  • Define coverage across functional, integration, regression, performance, resilience, security and operational testing.
  • Establish requirements-to-test traceability and quality gates.
  • Lead test automation strategy and continuous testing integration.
  • Coordinate test environments, test data, supplier evidence and defect management.
  • Plan and support system integration testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Report quality trends, risks, defects and readiness to programme governance.
  • Coach test engineers and assure the consistency of test artefacts and evidence.

  • Leadership, planning and stakeholder communication

Required experience:

  • Leadership of testing on large or complex systems integration delivery.
  • Experience defining test strategies, plans, methods, entry/exit criteria and reporting.
  • Experience coordinating multiple test phases, teams, suppliers and environments.
  • Strong understanding of functional and non-functional testing.

Pay Range:

£73,700.00-£97,000.00
