We’re looking for an experienced HR professional to help drive organisational excellence while making a lasting difference to our community.
We deliver a wide range of health, employment, youth and leisure services, alongside accessible and inclusive recreational facilities.

During the current year we’re looking at the development of our mission and vision statements, as well as a number of employee oriented policies, and see great opportunity for a person with practised people skills to help define our direction for the next three to five years.

What are we looking for?
These are the most appropriate skills and experience required for the role. We've separated them into Essential and Desirable
Essential
- Significant experience working in Human Resources, ideally at HR Manager, HR Business Partner, Head of HR or senior advisory level.
- Experience working within the charity, voluntary, community or social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to understand the distinction between the strategic role of trustees and operational role of staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A supportive, approachable and people-focused leadership style.
- Experience managing or advising on disciplinary, grievance, absence and capability processes.

What will you be doing?
Our Human Resources (HR) Lead Trustee will provide strategic support around HR queries and concerns, ensure organisational compliance and good practice and signpost to relevant training, resources and external support. You will support our business and HR officer as required, and attend quarterly HR and safeguarding meetings, in addition to board meetings.

As Lead Trustee for HR, you’ll bring your professional expertise to support our people strategy, strengthen good governance and help ensure Zest remains an inclusive, effective and forward-thinking organisation.
These are exciting times for Zest. We’ve recently undertaken major structural changes to the building including significant refurbishment to office spaces, a huge solar energy project (part of our environmental and sustainability strategy) and restoration of our historic public swimming pool (work currently being carried out). We also have plans to align the charitable registration and corporate structure of the organisation soon. All of which has been overseen by our board of trustees and the senior management team.
