Lead UI Developer – Birmingham, Bristol, Surrey, Glasgow, London, Manchester – Hybrid – Permanent 37.5 hours per week – £70,000 - £80,000 per annum – SC Clearance
Our client is looking for a Lead UI Developer with a strong background in experience-led design for immersive, experiential and live event environments.
You'll need a portfolio that proves you can create stunning digital interfaces across touchscreens, installations, exhibitions and experiential campaigns.
Working Patterns and Location
- Hybrid – 2-3 days on site per week
The Key Responsibilities of a Lead UI Developer
- Design engaging UI for immersive installations, live events, exhibitions and experiential campaigns.
- Shape how audiences interact with digital content across physical and virtual environments.
- Champion creative quality and maintain high standards across all project deliverables.
- Facilitate UX workshops and discovery sessions, mapping end-to-end user journeys.
- Present design concepts, rationale and prototypes confidently to clients and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to embed AI tools and workflows into design and product processes.
- Collaborate closely with developers, visualisation specialists and production teams.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently from concept through to delivery and implementation.

Key Skills Required
- Previous UI design experience within a creative, experiential, events, exhibitions or immersive agency environment.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating UI design across interactive, immersive and experiential projects.
- Expertise in visual interface design including typography, colour theory, grid systems and responsive design.
- Experience designing interfaces for touchscreens, immersive displays and wayfinding solutions.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Cloud and modern prototyping tools.
- Ability to translate complex brand narratives and event objectives into engaging digital experiences.
- Strong UX capability including user research, journey mapping and accessibility-focused design.
- Confident presenting ideas and design rationale to clients, stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Additional Skills (Not Essential)
- Understanding of spatial and experiential design principles, including 360 immersive display environments.
- Experience with AI-assisted design, rapid prototyping and vibe coding approaches.
- Passion for emerging technologies including real-time engines and immersive media.
- Experience designing modern experiential websites that blend storytelling and visual craft.
- Strategic mindset with ability to translate business goals into scalable, user-centred solutions.
