Fixed-term contract, 12 months (maternity cover)
Location: London — hybrid, with regular presence in our London office
About Delta Capita
Delta Capita is a global provider of managed services, technology and consulting to the financial services industry. Design sits at the centre of how we build our products. Our team shapes the interfaces our clients and their customers use every day.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Lead UX/UI Designer to cover a 12-month period of maternity leave, starting November 2026 and based in our London office. You will own the design of complex, multi-stakeholder products end to end - from early problem solving through to prototypes and production-ready UI. You’ll work closely with engineering and product teams on a day-to-day basis, with support from senior stakeholders as needed.
You will be comfortable making confident design decisions, shipping in short cycles, and iterating once real feedback arrives. You will be responsible for leading other junior designers in the team, to make help them make decisions, give feedback and make sure work is delivered to a high standard and on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Own complex projects end to end. Take full design accountability for one or more product workstreams, from early discovery through wireframes, prototypes and final UI specification.
- Design and prototype. Produce interactive prototypes in Sketch to test flows, validate concepts with users and align stakeholders before build.
- Run and facilitate workshops. Across teams and features, driving strategic alignment.
- Maintain and evolve the design system. Extend our component library and design standards so that work across the team stays consistent, accessible and reusable.
- Support junior designers. Set direction, review work, run critique sessions and support the day-to-day development of junior members of the design team.
- Partner with product and engineering. Work closely with product managers to shape requirements, and with developers to ensure designs are implemented faithfully and are technically feasible.
- Deliver at pace. Prioritise, break large problems into shippable increments and keep momentum across parallel workstreams.
- Uphold accessibility and quality. Ensure designs meet WCAG 2.2 AA standards and our internal quality bar before handover.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
