Role overview
The Lead VDC Coordinator is responsible for managing and implementing digital construction processes, primarily leveraging BIM (Building Information Modelling), to support project delivery. This leadership role coordinates multidisciplinary design teams, ensures model integration, and drives innovation across construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- VDC / BIM Leadership
- Lead the implementation of VDC/BIM strategies across projects
- Develop and enforce BIM Execution Plans (BEP)
- Set project standards for modelling, coordination, and digital delivery
- Mentor and manage junior VDC coordinators and BIM technicians

Model Coordination & Clash Detection
- Oversee federated model development across disciplines (Architectural, Structural, MEP)
- Conduct clash detection using tools like Navisworks, Revizto, or Solibri
- Chair coordination meetings and track issue resolution
- Ensure models are aligned with project timelines and deliverables

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with:
- Design consultants
- Contractors and subcontractors
- Project managers and site teams
- Act as primary point of contact for all BIM-related queries
- Collaborate with:

Digital Construction & Innovation
- Promote adoption of digital tools (e.g., drones, 4D/5D simulation, digital twins)
- Support construction sequencing (4D scheduling)
- Assist quantity take-offs (5D BIM)
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies

Quality Assurance & Data Management
- Ensure models comply with company and client BIM standards
- Maintain Common Data Environment (CDE) (e.g., BIM 360, ACC, ProjectWise)
- Perform model audits and QA checks
- Manage version control and data integrity

Reporting & Analysis
- Track BIM KPIs and project performance metrics
- Provide regular reports to project leadership
- Highlight risks and opportunities related to digital delivery

🛠️ Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Autodesk Revit
- Navisworks / Solibri
- BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Strong understanding of:
- ISO 19650 standards
- BIM workflows and coordination processes
- Experience with 4D/5D tools (Synchro, CostX, etc.) is a plus
- Familiarity with scripting (Dynamo, Python) beneficial
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Strong leadership and mentoring ability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Qualifications
- Degree in:
- Construction Management
- Engineering (Civil, Structural, MEP)
- Architecture or related discipline
- BIM/VDC certifications (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) preferred
Experience
- Typically 7–12+ years in construction/design
- At least 3–5 years in BIM/VDC leadership roles
- Proven experience delivering P&R Projects
