I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

What You’ll Be Doing
As Lead WordPress Engineer, you’ll lead the WordPress team and own its codebase, delivery, and technical decisions. You’ll define the roadmap and scope for a next-generation platform with product and project managers, then guide its build and delivery with a major global music client. You’ll act as the technical point of contact, leading requirements and estimation sessions, explaining trade-offs, and challenging requests when needed. You’ll also oversee the plugin suite, themes, and block library; work with DevOps on AWS and Kubernetes hosting; and partner with Service Delivery to plan safe changes across the estate. You’ll set quality, security, and performance standards, use AI-assisted development tools with sound judgment, and mentor engineers as the team develops.
