Lead Simulation Engineer - London
Hybrid flexible - £100-140k base salary + package
We’re supporting a VC-backed medical XR company transforming training and simulation across med-tech, medical device and life sciences.
They’re looking for a Lead Simulation Engineer to own simulation technology and lead a team of 4+ engineers. You'll get the chance to work on projects with well known global healthcare organisations.
The Role
Reporting to the CTO, you’ll own the technical direction, architecture and delivery of simulation capabilities across real-time XR, physics-based modelling and engineering simulation.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture and technical strategy for simulation systems.
- Design scalable, real-time and reusable technology across XR/VR and physics-based applications.
- Lead technical solutions and delivery for client projects.
- Set standards for performance, accuracy, maintainability and engineering quality.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of engineers.
- Drive adoption of AI-assisted and agentic engineering, improving developer productivity.

What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience building real-time simulation or XR applications.
- Proven experience with software architecture and technical project leadership.
- Strong hands-on Unity development skills. Unreal experience alongside Unity is a bonus.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic coding.
- Experience across VR, Mixed Reality and Web.

Nice to Have
- Digital twins and data-driven simulation.
- Medical, industrial or enterprise training and simulation.
- Performance optimisation on constrained or standalone XR hardware.
Most of the team are working in-person Central London 1-2 days per week. This is preferred but flexible DOE.
