Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Leak Detection Specialist role based in Greater London. The Leak Detection Specialist is responsible for identifying and locating leaks in water, heating, and plumbing systems using a range of diagnostic tools and methods, such as acoustic detection equipment, thermal imaging, tracer gas, and pressure testing. The role involves coordinating with repair teams, following strict health and safety procedures, and ensuring minimal disruption to properties while investigations are carried out. The Leak Detection Specialist is expected to:

  • Manage daily schedules
  • Maintain equipment in good working order
  • Keep accurate records of all jobs and materials used

Qualifications

  • Practical experience in leak detection, plumbing, or building services, including use of diagnostic tools such as acoustic equipment, thermal cameras, tracer gas systems, or pressure testing devices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical information, site drawings, and system layouts to pinpoint issues efficiently.
  • Clear, professional communication skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and supervisors, including the ability to produce concise written reports and job documentation.
  • Commitment to safe working practices and familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations for on-site work in residential and commercial environments.
  • Ability to work independently on-site across Greater London, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities and locations.
  • Basic IT skills for using mobile devices, job management systems, and report-writing tools; willingness to learn new technologies as the role evolves.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various sites within Greater London and surrounding areas as required.
  • Relevant vocational qualification or apprenticeship in plumbing, leak detection, building services, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
