About ARU

ARU is a global university transforming lives through innovative, inclusive, and entrepreneurial education and research. ARU holds a Gold award for the quality of its education, awarded through the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF).

ARU’s research institutes and four faculties bridge scientific, technical, and creative fields. We deliver impactful research which tackles pressing issues and makes a real difference to our communities. Our academic excellence has been recognised by the UK’s Higher Education funding bodies, with 16 of our research areas assessed as world leading. We are the largest provider of Nursing, Midwifery, Health and Social Care students in the East of England, and we are also among the UK’s leading universities for degree apprenticeship provision, working with hundreds of employers across the UK.

At our ARU Writtle campus, we specialise in animal, environmental, agricultural, and horticultural courses, for learners aged 16 to 18, adult learners, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels.

About The Role

Based at our Writtle College campus, you will play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance of our learners. Working closely with students, teaching staff, and support teams, you’ll help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment. You will monitor attendance patterns, support interventions to improve engagement, and provide pastoral care to students facing personal or academic challenges. This role is vital in promoting a culture of respect, resilience, and responsibility across the college community.

With experience of working in a Further Education environment, you’ll bring a proactive and empathetic approach to supporting students. You’ll be confident in managing a varied workload, responding to emerging issues around behaviour, attendance, and welfare with sensitivity and professionalism. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with young people are essential. You’ll be adaptable and resilient - no two days will be the same - and committed to promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
