Location: Bristol

Salary range: £26,300-£28,800 (FTE)

Contract: 18.75 hours, per week. Term time only

As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are looking for a passionate and organised Learner Services Advisor to join our dynamic team in Bristol.

As a Learner Services Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting learners throughout their educational journey. You will be the first point of contact for learners, providing guidance, advice, and assistance to ensure they have a rewarding and successful experience with us. These roles have a particular focus on high-needs funded learners, offering dedicated support to help every student reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learner Guidance & Support: Provide comprehensive support and guidance to learners, addressing enquiries related to course information, enrolment, and progression.
  • Specialist Support: Deliver specialist support appropriate to individual learners' needs, with a particular focus on learners with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and high-needs funding.
  • Induction & Onboarding: Assist with induction processes, helping learners settle in and understand available resources and support services.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain accurate learner records and update databases to ensure information is current and compliant with data protection standards. Support compliance with regulatory and funding body requirements through accurate reporting.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with academic and administrative teams to coordinate learner support activities, manage virtual meetings, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Signposting: Direct learners to additional support services such as counselling, financial advice, and careers guidance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the continuous improvement of learner services by gathering feedback and suggesting enhancements.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Experience working in a learner support, student services, or similar advisory role within the education sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including excellent writing and grammar capabilities.
  • Classroom management skills and experience in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) support preferred.
  • Proficient administrative and IT skills: experience with database administration, spreadsheet creation and management, electronic presentations, virtual meeting tools, and electronic performance evaluations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple priorities efficiently with keen attention to detail.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting learners to achieve their potential.
  • Knowledge of relevant educational policies, safeguarding, and data protection legislation is desirable.

Knowledge or Familiarity

Knowledge or familiarity in any of the following creative and technical areas is beneficial for advising learners:

  • Game Art: Familiarity with 2D/3D character art and animation processes using tools such as Maya, Substance Painter, and Unreal Engine. Key attributes include a vivid imagination, understanding of human behavior and anatomy, precise attention to detail, and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Music Production: Understanding of DAWs, composition, recording, mixing, and instrumental techniques. Key attributes include patience, creativity, adaptability, perseverance, and openness to feedback.
  • Software Development: Competency or familiarity with coding (Python, Java, TypeScript, C++) and database concepts. Key attributes include critical thinking, curiosity, self-learning, accountability, and strong time management.
