About Bristol Waste Company

At Bristol Waste Company, what we do matters. We keep Bristol and the surrounding areas clean, safe and moving. Working in partnership with the council, we support the city’s sustainability goals while delivering high-quality, value-for-money services. Our commercial operations are growing, and we’re looking for people who share our values and want to grow with us.

Purpose Of The Role

The L&D Advisor is responsible for supporting the building of organisational capability through the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality, inclusive learning and development initiatives. From induction through to leadership development, the role ensures colleagues are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed and grow.

The role is accountable for supporting the delivery of learning and organisational development interventions, measurable improvements in leadership capability, operational performance, and colleague experience, aligning all activity to organisational priorities and workforce needs.

Working in partnership with leaders and subject matter experts, the role drives a consistent and high-quality approach to learning, supports workforce planning and succession, and uses data, insight, and systems to continuously improve impact and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, facilitation, and continuous improvement of engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning programmes (including induction, and operational training). Ensuring all L&D activity is aligned to operational priorities, demonstrating clear links to service performance, productivity, and workforce stability.
  • Own and deliver a seamless, first-class onboarding and induction experience in partnership with the Talent Acquisition and People Services team members, ensuring new colleagues are effectively integrated and set up for success.
  • Support skills mapping and capability insight to support the development of talent management frameworks, including career pathways, succession planning, and leadership development programmes to future-proof organisational capability.
  • Act as system lead for the LMS, ensuring data integrity, compliance, reporting, and user engagement, while promoting self-directed learning and providing training and support to stakeholders.
  • Partner with leaders and managers to forecast learning needs, improve training completion and compliance, enable operational delivery, and provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
  • Champion a positive, inclusive learning culture by role modelling organisational values, supporting wellbeing and engagement initiatives, embedding behaviour change approaches driven by evidence-based practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
