Learning and Development Advisor
Department: People and HR
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: Wallingford, UK - Hybrid
Description
You’ll create and manage learning and development programmes that build peoples’ skills, knowledge, and confidence. You’ll use your interest in human skills and mindsets particularly curiosity, adaptability, self-awareness, and resilience to work closely with managers and the Ways of Working team to identify learning needs, define and deliver development programmes, and track learning progress across the business.

- Learning inventions completed by person
- Participation and engagement in learning programmes
- Assessed skills progression and development outcomes by person
- People survey results relating to learning and career development
- Learning satisfaction and feedback
Outcomes
- Current and future skills needs are defined, measurable, and actionable
- Manage and develop the GTI’s skills framework (human and technical skills) through discussions with team members, managers, and your knowledge of contemporary approaches to work (AI, productivity tools, agile, project management etc)
- Team member skills profiles are maintained to support development
- A skills directory is created for project teams and peer-to-peer support
- Measures of skills are designed, delivered, and analysed (including self-reflection, manager and peer feedback, and online assessments).
- Career pathways are created and evolved, with clarity on skills and knowledge needs at each level.
- Personal Development Plans for team members are continuously updated, actioned, and are meaningful.
- Quarterly Objectives, Quarterly Review processes, and pay reviews include measures to show learning.

Learning and development interventions are impactful
- Learning inventions are designed, curated, delivered, and activity is measured. These may include step-up projects, secondments, mini secondments, role changes, self-appraisals, short-form video content, podcasts, e-learning, peer-to-peer knowledge share, conference attendance, study time out, coaching and mentoring, and external training.
- Learner feedback is sought on the quality and effectiveness of these interventions
- Improvements are recommended based on learner feedback
- New learning approaches, technologies, and tools are researched to enhance development opportunities

Learning Operations are effective and well managed
- Maintain learning records, resources, and documentation.
- Support the administration of the learning platform
- Produce regular reports on learning activity, engagement, and completion rates.
- Help streamline learning processes to improve the learner experience.
- Assist with the promotion and communication of learning opportunities across the business.
Person Specification
Experience in learning and development, training coordination, or people development
You may come from a range of backgrounds including management, education, project coordination, operations
You are motivated by developing and inspiring people to learn and progress.
Experience working in one or more high-performing organisations that mix digital platforms and outstanding management to be continually evolving, changing, and adapting

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Comfortable working with data and using insights to measure learning outcomes.
- Natural curiosity and self-learning – you are likely to listen to podcasts on human potential, mindsets, and approaches as they naturally interest you
- You’ll enjoy seeking out, curating, and creating content and creative approaches to learning
- You are likely to have experimented with AI beyond asking it questions
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities and priorities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Other Information
- Permanent role – 22.5 - 37.5 hours per week. Open to applications looking for either part-time and full-time hours, please state preference on application.
- Full-time hours are Monday to Friday 9am-5:30pm.
- 3-month probationary period
