Softcat's Learning & Development team sits within a wider People & Property department consisting of People Operations, People Business Partners, Reward, Talent Acquisition, Diversity & Inclusion and Employee Engagement. Enabling Sales Excellence through strategic learning and development

About the Role:

This is a hybrid role that combines learning design, stakeholder engagement, performance consulting, facilitation, and coaching to support the development of our sales and sales leadership communities.

As part of our transformation journey, you'll help bring our on-demand Sales Academies to life by designing and developing engaging, high-quality learning content that enables people to perform, grow, and succeed. Working closely with subject matter experts and key stakeholders, you'll shape content briefs and create practical, outcome-focused learning experiences across our sales and sales management programmes. Alongside content development, you'll support wider capability initiatives through strategic partnering, stakeholder management, facilitation, coaching, and performance consulting to help drive business and people outcomes.

As L&D Instructional Designer Consultant, you'll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the wider L&D team when needed
  • Static and interactive documents, such as PDFs, guides and presentations
  • AI-generated videos using Synthesia
  • AI scenario practice, including scoping, prompting and build
  • Instructional how-to videos using screen recordings
  • Videos using user-generated content
  • In-person and virtual workshops, including action learning set design

We'd love you to have:

  • Strong instructional design experience, with the ability to design clear, practical and outcome-focused learning.
  • Experience turning learning briefs, stakeholder input or subject matter expert content into high-quality learning assets that support academy build and delivery.
  • Experience building learning content and resources for structured academies, learning pathways or capability programmes.
  • Experience using digital learning tools such as Articulate, Synthesia, screen recording software or similar.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced business environment, managing competing priorities and delivering multiple projects to tight deadlines.
