Learning and Development Consultant Salesperson

Salary: Up to £50,000 depending on career scale, plus bonus scheme
Location: West Midlands (hybrid)
Working pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

About the role

The Development Manager Ltd (TDM) is looking for a commercially minded Employer Learning and Development Consultant to grow employer engagement across the Midlands. You will identify new and existing customers who could benefit from TDM's Tech and Digital Programmes to recruit, reskill and retain employees.

You will work with employers of every size, from regional SMEs to large levy-paying organisations, helping them tackle workforce challenges through apprenticeships, skills bootcamps, early careers recruitment and upskilling. As a trusted advisor, you will give information, advice and guidance on funding opportunities, apprenticeship levy use and regional funding pots that support talent development.

You will join the Engagement Team, reporting to the Engagement Manager, and work in a consultative way based on TDM's vision of Doing Well by Doing Good and its skills-first methodology.

What you'll be doing

  • Prospecting employers across the West Midlands Combined Authority to secure conversations with decision-makers by phone, video call, LinkedIn, networking and email
  • Building and managing a pipeline of well-chosen prospective employers, matched to TDM's programmes and their sector needs
  • Leading digital transformation conversations, using training needs analysis and workforce development planning to match TDM's offer to each employer's needs
  • Securing formal commitments from employers to deliver an apprenticeship to a new recruit, reskill an existing employee or join other programmes such as skills bootcamps
  • Building TDM's reputation as the go-to provider for tech and digital apprenticeships and training
  • Attending networking events and presenting TDM services in public and online presentations
  • Account managing allocated employers and supporting the learner journey
  • Growing revenue and identifying future growth opportunities
  • Exceeding monthly apprenticeship start targets, from 5+ per month at Scale 1 to 7+ per month at Scales 3 and 4, with 90%+ compliant records
  • Keeping accurate records and eligibility evidence, and complying with TDM policies including safeguarding, ISO9001, confidentiality, data protection and Cyber Essentials

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
