Role Overview
This role supports the design, coordination and continuous improvement of early careers and professional development activity across the business.
Working within the People & Culture team, the role collaborates with leaders, mentors, line managers and People colleagues to deliver structured development programmes that support progression, professional competence and long-term career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Create & coordinate graduate, apprentice and early careers development programmes, ensuring activities are planned, communicated and delivered effectively.
- Maintain programme calendars, learning plans, induction schedules, review points and development milestones.
- Support onboarding and integration of early careers employees, helping them understand development expectations, business priorities and available support.
- Act as a point of contact for early careers employees, mentors and managers on programme administration and development queries.
- Support employees in navigating professional development routes, including initial professional development, continuing professional development and preparation for professional registration.
- Coordinate development activity aligned to recognised professional competence frameworks and professional body expectations.
- Maintain guidance materials, templates and trackers to support development objectives, learning activity, reflection and evidence of competence.
- Work with mentors and technical leaders to ensure early-career engineers receive regular feedback, relevant experience and appropriate support.
- Build effective relationships with business leaders, line managers and People colleagues to understand workforce capability priorities.
- Gather feedback from participants, managers and mentors to improve programme quality, consistency and impact.
- Maintain accurate data on early careers populations, development activity, professional body progress, mentoring participation and programme outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports and updates on progress, participation, completion status and emerging risks.

Skills and Experience
- Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, managers and People colleagues.
- Good understanding of employee development, mentoring, onboarding and career pathway processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, trackers and reports.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office and able to work with HR, learning or talent systems.
- Collaborative, organised and service-focused, with a professional and confidential approach.
- Interest in engineering careers, future skills and professional development.
Qualifications
- Experience in HR, learning and development, talent development, early careers coordination or a related people-focused role.
- Relevant HR, learning and development, coaching or talent development qualification would be advantageous.
- Awareness of professional registration routes for engineers, including Chartered Engineer, Incorporated Engineer or Engineering Technician pathways, would be advantageous.
- Experience in an engineering, consultancy or professional services environment would be beneficial.

- Strong planning, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with employees, managers and People colleagues.
- Ability to maintain accurate programme records, trackers and reports.
- Collaborative, organised and service-focused approach.
Desirable
- Experience supporting graduate, apprentice or early careers programmes.
- Experience working in an engineering, consultancy or professional services environment.
- Awareness of professional registration routes for engineers.
- Experience coordinating mentoring, technical development or professional development activity.
- Experience preparing simple reports, dashboards or management information.
