Learning & Development Manager (Talent Development)

£50,000–£55,000 | Hybrid Working | Newly Created Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning & Development Manager to take ownership of a newly created role to develop all development, helping to shape how an established organisation develops its people, strengthens capabilities and supports career progression.

Reporting to the Head of HR, you will work closely with managers across the business to design and introduce practical learning and development initiatives. This is a varied, hands-on position offering the opportunity to build frameworks, develop engaging programmes and make a genuine impact on how people learn and progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing competency frameworks and skills matrices to identify capabilities, development needs and skills gaps.
  • Developing and delivering engaging learning programmes, including leadership, management, technical and professional development.
  • Working closely with managers to identify training needs and create practical, effective learning solutions.
  • Strengthening performance and development processes, including appraisals, probation reviews and individual development plans.
  • Creating blended learning opportunities through workshops, digital learning, coaching and mentoring.
  • Managing apprenticeship programmes, professional qualifications and relationships with external training providers.
  • Supporting career pathways, internal progression and future succession planning initiatives.
  • Managing learning systems, mandatory training and evaluating the effectiveness of learning initiatives.

Requirements

Applicants will have proven experience within Learning & Development, with a strong track record of designing and delivering development programmes. Experience of developing competency frameworks, skills matrices or structured performance development processes is particularly important.

You will be a confident communicator and facilitator, comfortable working with managers at all levels to understand business needs and translate them into meaningful development opportunities.

We are looking for someone who combines creativity with structure, enjoys taking ownership and has the confidence to introduce new ideas while remaining hands-on with delivery.
