About the Role

As a key member of our Learning & Development team, you'll play an important role in shaping learning experiences that help colleagues grow, develop and succeed across the Pets ecosystem. Working closely with the Head of Learning & Development, you'll design and deliver engaging learning solutions that build capability in areas such as leadership and management, professional development, career progression, performance management, soft skills and induction programmes.

Partnering with subject matter experts, business leaders and the wider People team, you'll ensure learning interventions are aligned to business priorities and support the needs of our diverse teams. This role will focus on one of our key business areas: Support Office, Insurance & Specialist Fulfilment Centre Operations, Vet Group, Retail Customer, Sales & Service, or Retail Management & Leadership, helping to create meaningful learning experiences that drive performance and development across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify learning needs and capability gaps, recommending effective development solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to create learning roadmaps aligned to business priorities.
  • Design engaging learning experiences using blended, digital and face-to-face approaches.
  • Create learning materials including workshops, e-learning, toolkits, guides and job aids.
  • Develop impactful learning communications and marketing materials using tools such as Canva.
  • Ensure all learning content is inclusive, accessible and aligned with business standards.
  • Work with subject matter experts to build technical, professional and leadership development programmes.
  • Deliver high-quality learning sessions for colleagues, managers and leaders, both virtually and in person.
  • Coach and support managers to build capability within their teams.
  • Support the rollout of learning programmes across the business, including train-the-trainer activity.
  • Manage multiple learning and development projects within your dedicated business area.
  • Maintain learning frameworks, pathways and programme resources.
  • Monitor programme effectiveness using data, feedback and business performance measures.
  • Produce insights and reporting to demonstrate impact and drive continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, People teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Contribute to talent, succession and career development initiatives across the organisation.
  • Support the development of management, leadership and performance management capability.

About You – What you’ll bring to the role

You'll be an experienced Learning & Development professional with a background in retail or a similarly fast-paced, operational environment. Used to working in a field-based environment, you'll understand the realities of supporting colleagues and leaders across multiple locations nationwide, creating learning solutions that have a meaningful impact on performance, capability and engagement.

You'll bring strong learning design and facilitation skills, with significant experience operating at Learning & Development Practitioner level. You'll be confident delivering engaging behavioural-based learning, both face-to-face and virtually, and have a proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate blended learning solutions that meet business needs.

We're looking for someone who is passionate about continuous improvement and takes an evidence-based approach to learning. You'll be comfortable using data, feedback and performance insights to measure impact, identify trends and make recommendations that enhance the effectiveness of learning programmes. Above all, you'll be a collaborative partner who builds strong relationships and is committed to helping colleagues grow and succeed.
