Learning and Development Specialist
£35000 - £40000 per annum
12-14 Month Contract (Maternity leave cover)
Hybrid (2x per week on site travel to Cambridge or Oxford)
Client
Instinct is supporting a field-based organisation, looking for a Learning and Development Specialist. They deliver everything from major infrastructure and transport archaeology to urban regeneration, heritage consultancy, and public education.
About the Role
We're looking for an L&D Specialist on a 12–14 month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and grow a developing learning function within a well-established, technical and field-based organisation.
You'll take ownership of key L&D projects, building out competency frameworks to designing engaging blended learning content, while helping to implement their new Learning Management System (LMS). You'll work closely with technical subject matter experts and department heads across the business, making this a highly collaborative and visible role.

What You'll Be Doing
- Developing competency frameworks and clear learning pathways across the organisation
- Creating and developing digital learning content, using tools such as Articulate 360
- Supporting the implementation and ongoing development of their first LMS
- Delivering wider L&D projects and initiatives as priorities evolve
- Partnering closely with technical SMEs and department heads to ensure learning content reflects real needs
- Balancing blended and offline learning solutions to suit a varied, often field-based workforce
What We're Looking For
- A strong background in L&D, with solid experience developing learning pathways, competency frameworks, or career pathways
- Hands-on digital learning/content development experience
- Experience with LMS implementation and/or management
- Working knowledge of Articulate 360
- Comfort working with blended and offline learning approaches
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- A track record of project delivery, ideally in a technical, complex, or field-based environment

The role can be based in Oxford or Cambridge, with hybrid working and an average expectation of two days per week onsite. Candidates should therefore be within a realistic commuting distance or willing to travel to the site regularly.
