We have been exclusively retained by a respected housing organisation to appoint an experienced Learning and Organisational Development (L&OD) Team Leader on a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is a key opportunity to join an organisation with a strong social purpose and a commitment to developing its people, strengthening capability and creating a culture where colleagues can thrive.

Reporting to the Head of Learning and Organisational Development, this role will provide leadership to the L&OD team while playing a central role in shaping and delivering an effective learning and organisational development service.

We are seeking an experienced L&D professional who can combine strategic thinking with practical delivery, helping to create a high-performing learning culture that supports organisational goals, colleague development and long-term success.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will lead the design, delivery and evaluation of a wide range of learning and organisational development initiatives, working closely with leaders, managers and stakeholders across the organisation.

You will be responsible for ensuring learning solutions are aligned to business needs, informed by data and best practice, and delivered to a consistently high standard.

This role provides the opportunity to influence organisational culture, support leadership capability, enhance colleague development and contribute to a period of continued growth and change within a purpose-led housing environment.

Key Responsibilities

As Learning and Organisational Development Team Leader, you will:

  • Provide effective leadership, coaching and support to the L&OD team, creating an environment where colleagues can deliver their best work.
  • Develop and implement L&OD strategies, plans and interventions that support organisational priorities.
  • Design, deliver and embed engaging digital and face-to-face learning solutions using modern learning approaches and technology.
  • Lead the full learning cycle, from identifying development needs and designing programmes through to delivery, evaluation and measuring impact.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders, managers and People colleagues to identify capability requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Develop and support impactful leadership development programmes.
  • Use data, insights and evaluation methods to demonstrate learning effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Oversee learning content, systems and data within the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Ensure all learning activity is high quality, credible and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Manage relationships with external learning providers and other key stakeholders.
  • Provide expert L&OD advice, guidance and coaching to managers and teams across the organisation.
  • Support leaders and colleagues through periods of organisational change by ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and confidence required.
  • Contribute to succession planning, talent development and early careers initiatives, including apprenticeship and graduate programmes.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation and inclusive learning practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
