Learning & Development Business Partner
Help shape how our people learn, grow and build the skills we need for the future.
At OneAdvanced, our People team is an award-winning function, recognised as CIPD People Team of the Year and HR Excellence People Team of the Year. As our business continues to evolve, we're looking for an experienced Learning & Development Business Partner to join the team and help shape capability across OneAdvanced.
This is a business-facing role partnering with leaders and teams across the organisation to understand their priorities, identify skills and capability gaps, and translate these into meaningful development solutions.
Rather than simply responding to training requests, you'll act as a trusted consultant to the business, challenging where needed, diagnosing the real capability requirement and ensuring our investment in learning delivers measurable impact.
This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of two days per week from our Birmingham Mailbox office.
What You Will Do
- Partner with senior leaders and teams across the business to understand strategic priorities and identify current and future capability needs.
- Conduct learning and capability needs analysis, using insight and data to identify skills gaps and development priorities.
- Translate business challenges into practical, impactful learning and capability plans.
- Lead and contribute to organisation-wide capability initiatives, including AI, commercial capability, development and future skills.
- Source and curate the right learning solutions, drawing on internal expertise, digital learning, external partners and on-the-job development.
- Design and coordinate blended approaches that create genuine behaviour change rather than learning in isolation.
- Act as a trusted L&D advisor, constructively challenging stakeholders and helping them make informed decisions about where development investment will have the greatest impact.
- Work closely with colleagues across the wider People function to connect learning with our broader talent, skills and workforce priorities.
- Measure the effectiveness and application of learning, using data, feedback and business outcomes to continually improve our approach.
- Stay curious about emerging learning practices, technology and AI, bringing new thinking into how we build capability at OneAdvanced.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
