Learning & Development Co-ordinator (Capability & Skills)

Key Purpose of Job

The Capability & Skills Co-ordinator provides administrative and operational coordination support across SSTL’s Capability & Skills portfolio, helping to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of learning, development, Early Careers and capability activities across the organisation.

The role also supports wider capability activities through coordination of plans, reporting, communications, governance activities and records across both internal and customer-focused capability initiatives.

The successful candidate will maintain accurate records and systems, coordinate events and logistics, prepare documentation and reporting information, and provide day-to-day operational support across learning and capability activities.

The role will also provide coordination support across the wider Capability & Skills portfolio, helping to maintain plans, governance, reporting, communications and records across internal and customer capability activities.

Key Tasks

  • Provide day-to-day administration and maintenance of the Learning Management System, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate training and development activities, including scheduling sessions, issuing invitations, tracking attendance and maintaining training records.
  • Coordinate administrative activities associated with the annual Learning & Development and capability event calendar.
  • Organise logistical arrangements for training courses and events, including room or venue bookings, purchase orders, refreshments, equipment and materials.
  • Liaise with employees, managers, trainers, suppliers and external providers to support the smooth running of development activities.
  • Raise purchase orders, track invoices and maintain accurate records relating to training expenditure and budget activity.
  • Provide administrative support for professional qualifications and accreditation activities.
  • Maintain training, compliance and completion records and provide status updates and reporting where required.
  • Assist with the coordination and administration of Early Careers activities, including graduate and apprenticeship programmes and attraction events.
  • Prepare and distribute training communications, joining instructions, onboarding information and learning materials.
  • Maintain supplier records and associated documentation.
  • Monitor and respond to Learning & Development and Early Careers queries, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Collate data and prepare reports, metrics and feedback summaries to support management reporting activities.
  • Support continuous improvement activities across the Capability & Skills function, including process updates and administrative efficiencies.
  • Maintain internal learning resources, shared documentation, communication materials and programme records.
  • Support the maintenance of standard templates, administrative processes and document libraries across the Capability & Skills portfolio.
  • Undertake research, coordination and administrative activities to support capability initiatives, supplier management and development programmes.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and data protection requirements.
  • Support coordination and administration activities associated with customer capability and knowledge-transfer programmes where required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant administration, HR or Learning & Development qualification desirable but not essential.
  • Proven administration or coordination experience.
  • Previous experience within an HR, Learning & Development or training environment desirable but not essential.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems (SuccessFactors) advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience within an engineering or technical environment desirable but not essential.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to manage and prioritise a range of administrative activities effectively.
  • Proactive and able to use initiative appropriately within established processes and guidance.
  • Good customer service and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Comfortable working with systems, records, data and reporting information.
  • Flexible and able to manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Positive and solution-focused approach to work.
