Work Culture

  • 37hr working week, although hours may vary depending on role, job requirement or site-specific arrangements.

  • Up to 5 paid days volunteering each year.

Role & Responsibilities

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to the Royal Navy Training Design Service. As the Learning & Development Lead, you’ll support the Integrated Training Design Service to deliver learning that is blended, active and provides customer delight.

Responsibilities

  • As the Learning and Development Lead you will support the skills and growth of colleagues and new starters, to ensure that they have the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles.
  • Be an ambassador for the continuous professional development of others and yourself. Leading learning initiatives that inspire colleagues to unlock their full potential and contribute effectively to organisational success.
  • An ambassador for collaboration and great communication with all colleagues.
  • The identification of the skills and knowledge required by role to meet contractual delivery obligations and aligning this with development needs identified of internal colleagues.
  • Collaborate with leaders to support new starters, providing guidance and coaching on employee development planning and succession progression.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver RUK workshops across the programme providing guidance, support, and expertise to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Ensuring accurate records are maintained and a proactive approach is taken to identify skills gaps and resolve.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of training programs, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement innovative learning solutions, including digital and blended learning approaches, to enhance the learner experience.
  • Drive engagement with development initiatives and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement learning and development strategies that align with ITDS objectives, contractual requirements, and future capability needs.
  • Supporting internal apprenticeship programs ensuring that the learner, provider and line manager are set up for success.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships internally and externally to positively contribute towards training transformation.
  • Employees are responsible for their own Health and Safety and that of work colleagues and customers.
  • Adhering to the Quality Assurance procedures and standards.
  • Follow security standards and system requirements to protect data and ensure smooth operations.
  • Occasional travel to other customer sites may be required for this role.
  • Any other duties required to complete the Integrated Training Design Service.

Required experience

  • Demonstrate significant experience in learner-centred learning and development roles, including facilitation, presentation, and workshop delivery.
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Demonstrate previous knowledge acquired from a professional learning and development qualification.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational, planning, and project management skills.
  • Identify organisational learning needs and develop effective learning solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Use data, feedback, and performance metrics to measure the impact and effectiveness of learning interventions.
  • Be an ambassador for learning and development, promoting a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and best practice.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to the role and adapt to evolving organisational priorities.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and employee development.
