Learning & Development (L&D) Manager

The Learning & Development (L&D) Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating learning strategies that build organisational capability, support leadership excellence, and foster a culture of continuous development. This role will lead key training programmes including leadership development, graduate onboarding, job-specific skills training, behavioural skills, regulatory training, and initiatives to prepare the organisation for AI-driven transformation. The L&D Manager will partner closely with HR Business Partners, business leaders, and subject matter experts to identify learning needs and deliver high-impact development solutions across all levels.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Management Development

  • Design and deliver leadership training programmes for emerging, new, and experienced managers.
  • Oversee Team Leader Training initiatives including coaching skills, performance management, communication, and employee engagement.
  • Implement psychometric profiling tools (e.g., DISC) to enhance self-awareness and leadership effectiveness.

Early Careers & Talent Development

  • Manage the Graduate Academy, ensuring structured learning pathways, rotations, and assessments.
  • Lead the growth and maintenance of the FPE Academy (or equivalent functional development path).
  • Coordinate mentorship, coaching, and buddy programmes to support career success.

Core Learning Programmes

  • Develop and deliver soft skill training (communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, etc.).
  • Manage and refresh cultural training programmes, strengthening organisational values and inclusivity.
  • Deliver effective induction and onboarding programmes for all new employees.

Mandatory & Regulatory Training

  • Oversee annual mandatory compliance training including AML, Cybersecurity, Data Protection, Health & Safety, Code of Conduct, etc.
  • Track completion rates, ensure audit readiness, and coordinate with compliance stakeholders.

Sales & Job-Specific Skills Training

  • Partner with Sales leadership to design training programmes for sales capability, product knowledge, negotiation, and client engagement.
  • Work with department heads to assess job skill gaps and create targeted upskilling pathways.
  • Coordinate and support skill specialists to deliver training programmes

HR Business Partner (HRBP) Enablement

  • Facilitate HRBP workshops focusing on strategic HR capabilities, talent coaching, workforce planning, and business partnering excellence.

Assessment & Certification Processes

  • Manage and monitor exam processes, assessments, and training-related sign-off procedures.
  • Maintain training records, competency frameworks, and compliance documentation.

AI Readiness & Digital Learning Transformation

  • Lead organisational initiatives to prepare employees to embrace AI-enabled ways of working.
  • Build training programmes focused on AI literacy, prompt engineering, digital fluency, and human-AI collaboration skills.
  • Support integration of AI tools within learning platforms and content creation.

Programme Evaluation & Learning Analytics

  • Continuously improve programmes through evaluation, learner feedback, and data insights.
  • Track KPIs such as skills uplift, leadership pipeline growth, employee engagement, and capability metrics.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align L&D initiatives with business strategy.
  • Source and manage external training providers, consultants, and accreditation bodies.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of learning strategy, adult learning principles, and instructional design.
  • Facilitation and presentation excellence, both in-person and virtual.
  • Experience with leadership development and behavioural training.
  • Ability to build learning pathways and competency frameworks.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience using learning analytics tools.
  • Understanding of psychometric tools (DISC, MBTI, Insights, etc.).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Familiarity with AI learning trends, digital learning platforms, and modern HR tech.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in L&D, coaching, or leadership development (e.g., CIPD, ATD, ILM) preferred.
  • Experience in managing organisation-wide training programmes, academies, or leadership pipelines.
  • Experience with LMS/LXP platforms, digital content creation tools, and AI learning tools.
