Salary: £28,000 - £34,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
As Learning Resources Coordinator you will manage the day-to-day library operations, curating physical and digital collections while ensuring copyright compliance and policy maintenance. You will support students by developing research and information literacy skills through one-to-one guidance and workshops. Additionally, you will collaborate with academic teams to align reading lists and integrate digital tools. You will also manage online subscriptions and our Virtual Learning Environments (Moodle) and troubleshoot basic IT issues and liaise with IT support to enhance the overall user experience.
Core Responsibilities
Resource Management & Administration
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the university learning resources, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive environment.
- Work with the partner universities on library and e-resource matters, in coordination with the academic colleagues who hold the partner relationship.
- Monitor the use of study areas and help maintain a professional learning environment.
- Procure, catalogue, and maintain physical and digital materials (books, journals, databases, e-books) to align with academic programmes.
- Maintain library records, inventories, and the book loan system.
- Develop and maintain library policies, procedures, and guidance documents.
- Provide regular and ad hoc reports to the line manager on stock, usage, digital resource take-up, spend against budget, VLE quality standards and service issues.
- Use student voice and module evaluation feedback to inform the development of the service.
- Ensure compliance with copyright law and with the College's licensing arrangements, including the CLA Higher Education Licence, covering scanning limits, copyright notices, access restrictions and reporting obligations.

- Help students build independent learning, research, and information literacy skills.
- Support students to develop independent learning, research and information literacy skills.
- Help students identify appropriate reading for assignments and make active suggestions where a student is unsure where to start.
- Promote the library and encourage student engagement by organising at least one library-related activity each semester.
Academic Team Support
- Work with academic staff on reading lists, checking availability, sourcing material, advising on format and cost, and flagging where a listed item cannot reasonably be supplied.
- Contribute a learning resources perspective to curriculum planning for new and revised modules.
- Support academics to integrate new digital tools into their teaching and assisting with the management of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) like Moodle or Canvas.
- Advise academic staff on the lawful use of third-party material in teaching and on the VLE, and act where non-compliant material is identified.
Digital Learning & Technology
- Manage and administer online library subscriptions and digital learning platforms.
- Coordinate Moodle enrolments and ensure students have access to the correct courses, modules and learning materials.
- Assist users in navigating virtual learning environments (VLEs like Moodle or Canvas) and digital library platforms, keeping a record of any issues and liaising with IT to help improve systems and user experience.
- Troubleshoot basic IT queries and instruct staff/students on using multimedia and presentation equipment.
Other Responsibilities
- Contribute to the wider work of the department, including support at induction, enrolment and open days.
- Undertake other duties commensurate with the grade and purpose of the post, as may reasonably be requested by the line manager.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar UK HEI role.
- Working knowledge of UK copyright law as it applies to education, and of licensing arrangements such as the CLA Higher Education Licence
- Successful supervision/management of library and learning resources.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
- Supporting colleagues within a university library and learning support context
- Success in building effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues and students
- Understanding of knowledge management and digital technologies relating to learning and teaching
- Student-centered approach and ability to operationalise across team to enthuse and facilitate students’ successful achievement in higher education
- Ability to work on your own initiative, demonstrating a positive approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrate empathy to understand and address students’ concerns.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport with students.
- Capacity to assess situations and provide practical solutions.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and student needs.
- Proficiency in using IT technology to record and search student data base.
- AFHEA or willingness to work towards it.
