A welcoming and supportive school in Wandsworth is looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.

The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with pupils with a range of special educational needs, providing individual and small-group support to help them access learning, develop independence and make progress.

Previous SEN experience is essential, and candidates must be comfortable providing personal care as part of the role.

The Learning Support Assistant Role

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND.
  • Support pupils with a range of learning, communication, and developmental needs.
  • Help pupils access classroom activities and the wider curriculum.
  • Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation.
  • Encourage pupils to develop their confidence and independence.
  • Use appropriate SEN strategies and resources according to individual needs.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support professionals.
  • Provide personal care when required, maintaining pupils' dignity and wellbeing.
  • Help create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

The Ideal Learning Support Assistant

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is essential.
  • Must be comfortable and willing to provide personal care.
  • Patient, nurturing, and resilient in their approach.
  • Able to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Confident supporting children with a range of additional needs.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively within a team.
  • Available to start ASAP.
  • Able to commit to a full-time, long-term position.
