Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Location: Copper Fields School, Gunnislake, PL18 9EH

Salary: £22,160.62 per annum (not pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday 8.30am – 5.00pm | Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 3.45pm

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: October 2026

At Copper Fields School, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is more than just a job—it's an opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils with additional needs by helping them build confidence, develop independence and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

Working alongside experienced teachers and a supportive multidisciplinary team, you'll play a vital role in creating a nurturing, engaging and inspiring learning environment where every pupil feels safe, valued and understood.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging, personalised learning experiences that meet a range of additional needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence, participation and self-belief.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development using consistent and nurturing approaches.
  • Help prepare stimulating classrooms, resources and activities that inspire curiosity and engagement.
  • Contribute to the implementation and review of individual education and support plans.
  • Monitor progress and share observations to help shape the best outcomes for every pupil.
  • Support educational visits, enrichment activities and wider learning opportunities.
  • Promote high standards of safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing ideas and contributing to a supportive team culture.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Experience working in an SEN educational setting is desirable, but not essential. If you have the right values, enthusiasm and commitment, we'd love to hear from you.

Copper Fields School is a specialist co-educational school in Gunnislake, Cornwall, supporting pupils aged 4–16 with autism, communication and language needs, and additional complex needs.
