Learning Support Assistant
Camden, North London
Primary school
Long-term, full-time role
ASAP start
8:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Pay: GBP 99 - GBP 115 per day
Responsibilities
- Supporting a pupil with ASD
- Supporting academic progress and learning
- Helping develop independence and life skills
Key Responsibilities
As Learning Support Assistant, You Will
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with ASD.
- Support the pupil with their academic learning and development.
- Help the pupil develop independence and confidence.
- Support communication, social interaction, and engagement.
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupils' individual needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the pupil with daily routines and transitions.
- Work closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Encourage the pupil to participate in the wider school environment.

About You
The Successful Learning Support Assistant Will Have
- Previous experience supporting children with ASD or additional needs: desirable.
- A patient, calm, and nurturing approach.
- Understanding of how to support children with individual learning needs.
- Confidence supporting academic development and independence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- A consistent and encouraging approach to supporting behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and the wider school team.
- A flexible and proactive approach.
- A genuine passion for helping children learn, develop, and become more independent.
