Position: Learning Support Assistant – Prep School
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
Contract Terms: Permanent
Contract Type: Term Time Only
Salary: £19,264 actual pro rata salary
Ideal Start Date: 1 January 2027

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring and committed individual to join us at Rookwood School as a Learning Support Assistant. Working within the Prep School, you will support pupils across all year groups, helping to meet a range of educational, pastoral and developmental needs. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the Prep School leadership team to ensure pupils are fully supported and able to achieve their full potential.
Nestled on a leafy site in Andover, Rookwood School is a happy and thriving learning environment for pupils aged 2 to 18. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for education to join our support staff. We would like to hear from you if you are an experienced Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant, or if you are looking to gain experience in a school before teacher training. This role would also suit someone with prior experience of working in a SEND setting. Experience of supporting pupils with additional learning needs, including SEND and EAL, would be advantageous.

We would like to hear from you if you are able to:
- Support pupils both in and out of lessons.
- Assist pupils on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups within the classroom environment.
- Work alongside teachers to support the planning, preparation and delivery of engaging lessons.
- Support pupils with a range of abilities and educational needs, including SEND and EAL.
- Help monitor pupil progress and support learning and development across the curriculum.
- Maintain high expectations of behaviour and achievement.
- Contribute to the pastoral care and wellbeing of pupils.
- Support the wider life of the Prep School, including educational visits and school activities where required.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external agencies where appropriate.
- Undertake a shared responsibility for health and safety.
