Learning Support Assistant (SEND)
Location: Cherry Hinton Hall, Cherry Hinton Rd, Cambridge CB1 8DW
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £26,803 FTE (£17,744.90 actual salary, pro rata for term-time working)
Holme Court School is seeking dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join our specialist team. This is an exciting opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional learning needs and play a key role in the day-to-day life of our nurturing school community.
Holme Court is a small, warm and inclusive setting for pupils aged 7 to 16 with specific learning difficulties, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), ADHD and associated learning needs. We pride ourselves on our personalised curriculum, specialist teaching and strong relationships, ensuring every child is understood, respected and supported to achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider school team to support pupils' learning, wellbeing and personal development. The role is primarily focused on supporting named pupils within the classroom, while also providing support to other pupils with similar needs where appropriate. There will be opportunities to work with pupils on a 1:1 basis, within small groups and through targeted intervention sessions designed to help pupils achieve their individual learning goals.

We are looking for Learning Support Assistants who can:
- Build positive, trusting and supportive relationships with pupils, helping them to engage confidently in learning.
- Provide tailored support for named pupils within the classroom while remaining responsive to the needs of other pupils.
- Lead and support small group learning activities and intervention programmes when required.
- Assist teachers in delivering high-quality learning experiences across the curriculum.
- Adapt resources and learning activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Support pupils' social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, families and other professionals to promote pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Assist with educational visits, enrichment activities and wider school events.
- Record observations and contribute to monitoring pupil progress where appropriate.
Requirements
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is highly desirable. A Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEND training would be advantageous, although a positive attitude, flexibility and commitment to supporting young people are equally important.
