Learning Support Assistant - Gloucester
Location: Gloucester, Gloucestershire
School: Mainstream Primary School
Start Date: ASAP / Immediate Start
Hours: Full-Time, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £90 - £105 per day

Academics Ltd is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and child-focused primary school in Gloucester. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored academic, social and emotional support to children with additional learning needs, helping them build confidence, develop their skills and thrive in the classroom.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other education professionals to support children with a range of additional learning needs. You will provide a combination of 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils engage with lessons, develop their social skills and overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
- Support children to engage positively with classroom activities and lessons.
- Help pupils develop their academic, social, emotional and communication skills.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and encourage their confidence and independence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, educational psychologists and other professionals.
- Support the implementation of individualised learning and support plans.
- Create and adapt learning resources and activities to help pupils access the mainstream curriculum.
- Encourage pupils to develop new skills, explore opportunities and reach their individual potential.
Key Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs or SEN is desirable.
- A patient, empathetic and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive and meaningful relationships with children.
- The flexibility to adapt your approach to suit individual needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting children's learning, development and wellbeing.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- The ability to provide two recent professional references.
