Learning Support Assistant Needed
GBP88:GBP110 a day
Long term/contract role: Guaranteed until July 2027
Within the Copthorne area the school is set in its own beautiful grounds. The residential special school caters for students with a range of SEN needs and has a fully enhanced curriculum. The aim of the school is to help the individuals access and progress with their independence. The school provides a fantastic holistic approach to education encompassing teaching and learning with a therapy input.
This specialised school is a non:maintained residential special school, designed to meet the educational, behavioural, care and therapeutic needs of children (age 6:16 years). The children have a range of special needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC).
The school is looking for a full-time learning support assistant who is willing to make a difference and can engage students in their primary unit.
Hours: Monday-Friday 08:30-4pm

Your role as an SEN learning support assistant will include:
- To provide teaching assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/sessional planning of the teacher
- To provide group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
- To work individually with learners/students to develop work
- To support the general well-being of learners within the structure of the school
- To monitor and evaluate learners learning under the guidance of the teacher
- To assist teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
- To support all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

- Be able to work with learners that have various learning difficulties
- Have an understanding of the students with special needs
- Willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
- Be confident to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects
- The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the team
- Be flexible in their approach to education
- Have experience working in SEND settings
- Experience working with children is essential
