Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity within a Further Education college?
We are currently recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a college in South Manchester, supporting students aged 16-19 with additional learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and wants to make a genuine difference to young people's learning, development and independence.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who may have a range of additional learning needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and fully participate in college life.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students with additional learning needs.
- Supporting students to access their chosen course and participate fully in lessons.
- Helping students develop their academic, communication, social and independent living skills.
- Implementing individual support strategies in line with students' needs and support plans.
- Working alongside teaching staff to ensure students receive appropriate support within the classroom.
- Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence and self-advocacy.
- Supporting students who may have needs including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties and communication needs.
- Providing pastoral support and helping students manage challenges that may affect their engagement with learning.
- Maintaining a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Working as part of a wider SEND and Additional Learning Support team.

About You
The successful candidate will ideally have experience supporting young people or adults with additional learning needs, SEND or disabilities.

You May Have Previous Experience As a

- Youth Worker
Experience within a school, college, specialist education setting, care environment or community setting would be advantageous.
Most importantly, you will be patient, compassionate and committed to helping young people achieve their potential.
