Hanley Castle High School
We are seeking to appoint a patient, calm and empathetic individual to join us in providing one-to-one personal care and support for a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This role involves meeting the pupil’s physical, emotional, and educational needs in a respectful and dignified way. Responsibilities include assisting with physiotherapy, feeding, and communication, working closely with teaching staff and professionals to support the pupil’s full inclusion and participation in school life. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference, and be part of the supportive Aspire@Hanley team.
We are looking for someone with experience working with young people and supporting pupils with EHCPs. The successful candidate will also be willing to develop new skills and undertake necessary training to support the student, including training on using a hoist and eye gaze technology. Experience working with children who have complex physical and communication needs would be beneficial but is not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
