Learning Support Assistant: Resource Base IN THE FIRST INSTANCE

OC/NJC Scale 3 (Point 4-8) £25,878 - £26,824 FTE (Bristol Grade 5) + Local Government Pension Scheme

32.5 HOURS (Monday - Friday) 8:30am-3:45pm

Oasis Academy Long Cross Specialist Resource Base for children with severe and complex learning needs including autism, is a unique and specialist provision situated in a thriving primary school in north Bristol. This is an exciting opportunity to join an experienced team.

The Specialist Resource Base spans over seven classes for children from Reception to Year six who present with a range of needs and strengths, they all have an Education and Health Care Plan and require a specialist placement full time. You must bring energy, confidence, and enthusiasm with a commitment to inclusion and continuing professional development. Under the guidance of the teaching staff, you will provide direct support for the learning of individual children or groups of children to achieve defined progression targets.

We are pleased to announce that we are expanding our fantastic team of SEND LSAs within our specialist resource base. This is predominately working in a specialist class with a very experienced team. You will be expected to work under the direction of the class teacher in delivering the requirements of the EHCP provisions alongside working and supporting a curriculum offer.

Desirable Experience Would Be

  • Working with children with ASD
  • Experience of delivering speech and language interventions
  • Working with children with attachment needs
  • Working closely with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisions.
  • Record and collate evidence to support next step planning.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and adaptable Learning Support Assistant to join our highly skilled and experienced team, who is committed to providing, supporting, and leading outstanding provision for children. We need a resilient, positive practitioner who shows a good understanding of child development and a clear knowledge of the curriculum and how this can be delivered creatively with an emphasis on play.

Candidates will be expected to have at least an NVQ2 or equivalent qualification or be working towards this and experience of working with children with SEND in either a mainstream or special school provision. This is an exciting opportunity to join our unique and vibrant school.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
